2nd Time Transfers Immediately Eligible For Remainder of Academic Year

On my Phone, and I can't figure out how to link it, but the article is on the Yahoo college football page.
I think most of us were familiar with the recent court ruling that temporarily allowed 2nd time transfers to be immediately eligible, but the NCAA went ahead and extended it through the end of the 2023-2024 academic year. Any athlete may transfer for a second time and be able to play immediately.
Perhaps it's already been discussed, but it's only a matter of time before any athlete will be able to transfer every single year without penalty. They'll just be able to go from school to school to school, just going to the highest bidder each year.
This stuff is going to be absurd when every player on your roster can transfer every single year.

It’s time to professionalize this. Have schools offer contracts to players, can be a 1 year or multi year offer. Institute a salary cap and just go full on semi pro

That still doesn't do anything about NIL. Also I think it also opens up the idea of guys not even going to the NFL. If it's about school employees and not students anymore, could a guy play for 10 years. Even if you are required to be a full time student, some guys will just opt for multiple degrees.

Absolutely. It gets weird quick but at least they’ll be guaranteed a salary and the schools get protection with a contract.

quote:scholarships are a yearly thing, players could transfer every year before the portal it was just frowned upon back then
when every player on your roster can transfer every single year.

The transfer portal is just a way to facilitate things and let schools know you're available. The real game changer is the immediate eligibility. If these guys still had to sit out a year after transferring, the portal wouldn't contain nearly the number of players as it does now. The combination of the portal, immediate eligibility and the blatant paying of players combined to fuel the madhouse that has developed.
