As has been mentioned previously, Louisiana has a very talented (and deep) crop of football prospects for the 2022 cycle. And while LSU is expected to pull heavily from in-state (LA) for this class, we will inevitably miss out on a few. In this vein, curious as to how everyone views LA recruits from a "priority for LSU" standpoint.

I broke it down by including the top-25 or so in-state (LA) prospects in one (1) of four (4) "tiers", which are described as follows:

"Tier 1" - Elite talents (top-50ish) that are highest priority regardless of LSU's positional needs in 2022.

"Tier 2" - Great talents (top-500ish) that play positions of greatest need at LSU in 2022 (OL, DL, LB, & DB).

"Tier 3" - Great talents (top-500ish) that don't play positions of greatest need at LSU in 2022, but guys we definitely don't want leaving Louisiana.

"Tier 4" - Very good talents who may or may not receive an LSU offer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My list of priorities for 2022 in-state (LA) prospects would be something like this:

"Tier 1" priorities
1) Walker Howard, QB
2) Will Campbell, OT
3) Jacoby Mathews, S/LB
4) J'mond Tapp, WDE
5) Emery Jones, OG
6) Le'veon Moss, RB
7) Shazz Preston, WR

"Tier 2" priorities
8) Kendrick Law, Ath/S
9) Laterrance Welch, CB
10) Javae Gilmore, OLB
11) Jordan Allen, CB/S
12) Maxie Baudoin, IV, DT
13) Bo Bordelon, OC/OG

"Tier 3" priorities
14) Tygee Hill, DT
15) Quency Wiggins, SDE
16) Aaron Anderson, WR
17) Trevonte Citizen, RB/ILB
18) Decoldest Crawford, WR
19) AJ Johnson, WR
20) Trevor Etienne, RB
21) Shone Washington, DT

"Tier 4" priorities
22) Cam East, OT
23) Kailep Edwards, ILB
24) Lorenzell Dubose, CB
25) Fitzgerald West, DT
26) Jhamal Shelby, CB
27) Brylan Green, CB
28) Landon Ibieta, WR
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2022 top-20 Wishlist

Assuming LSU takes 16-17 in-state (LA) recruits for the 2022 class, here is my "top-20 wishlist" for the Tigers (in order of priority - highest to lowest).

1. Walker Howard, QB
2. Will Campbell, OT
3. J'mond Tapp, WDE
4. Laterrance Welch, CB
5. Kendrick Law, Ath/S
6. Jacoby Mathews, LB/S
7. Javae Gilmore, OLB
8. Emory Jones, OG
9. Jordan Allen, CB/S
10. Maxie Baudoin, IV, DT
11. Bo Bordelon, OC/OG
12. Tygee Hill, DT
13. Quency Wiggins, SDE
14. Le'veon Moss, RB
15. Shazz Preston, WR
16. Trevonte Citizen, RB/ILB
17. Aaron Anderson, WR
18. AJ Johnson, WR
19. Decoldest Crawford, WR
20. Cam East, OT

Let me know what y'all think about LSU's prioritization of in-state (LA) prospects for the 2022 class.

Why is everyone so sure that bj allen is going to bama?

Is it because he went to school with jojo earle?

Does anyone know why jacoby matthews isn't high on lsu?

That and Aledo kids tend to do that.

Just reading between the lines and listening to him talk, he almost sounds like Van Pren. Not as much of "I am 100% leaving the state" talk but he does seem to want to get out. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do in those situations.

Well said, PP7 for Heisman, your responses to his questions are spot-on IMO.

I like your lists! Kind of feel like RB is a position of need. I love the guys on the roster, just not enough depth.

I watched an interview with him the other day and he didn’t seem that excited about LSU.

Hope we get him though

Not sure where this came from. He did this interview last year and said we’ll for sure be in his top 3.

Some of them are. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields were both considered as such out of high school. Do you think they weren't? Most of us on forums like this don't use the pro barometer that the so called experts say they do. Only college and some kids are just can't miss guys for college barring injury or off field issues.
The question is are any of these LA kids you'd put into that category? Me personally, no but some will have differences of opinion. Maason Smith was but i don't believe Howard or Campbell are in that category as of now. Howard because QB is so hard to project unless you're talking a truly elite makeup. Howard isn't Lawrence or Fields and competition is gonna be stiff once here. Campbell just isn't that guaranteed type guy like a Tunsil was. OL is tremendously hard to project like that.
If perception is used then I can make the case for both. Similar to Cam Robinson or Sospher was. Both had signs in hs that they may not be the dominant collegians they were projected to be. While Robinson had a solid/good career at Bama he wasn't elite/franchise level. Sospher is well we all know. Perceptionally for LSU both were can't miss guys. LSU ended up fine without both.

Didn’t Cam Robinson start as a freshman and win the Outland trophy his junior year?

Jhamal Shelby is my friend son also plays QB but most likely will be a DB. Florida State is recruiting him heavy as of now.

I think Landon Ibieta should be added to the Tier 4 list. Definitely someone to keep and eye on.

Yep, Jhamal is a great player.

It's incredible how deep Louisiana is this year at Cornerback (CB).

4-5 legitimate corners out of LA in 2022. Crazy stacked!!

Added Landon Ibieta to the list.

Thanks for suggestion, fFearlsReal.

Much appreciated!

I had gotten the feeling that Shazz Preston and J. Matthews would be teir 1.....that's all assumption on my end, though.

Is this serious?

How does one get any better than starting EVERY game at Bama since a true FR with this resumé below?

FR all American
SO all SEC
JR: The anchor of the Crimson Tide offensive line ... selected as one of the Crimson Tide’s permanent team captains for the 2016 season ... started every game at left tackle during his time in Tuscaloosa (43 games) ... one of the Tide’s three unanimous All-America selections ... also earned first-team honors from Sports Illustrated ... Outland Trophy winner, given annually to the nation’s top interior lineman on offense or defense ... claimed the SEC Jacobs Blocking Trophy, the Tide’s second in as many years ... first team All-SEC selection by the conference coaches and the Associated Press ... midseason All-American by Sports Illustrated, CBS, ESPN and Sporting News ... named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List ... also earned Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List recognition, given annually to the nation’s top lineman on offense or defense ...

34th overall pick in 2017 draft, the 3rd OT selected.

I HATE that this guy went to Bama, but I’m not sure what your definition of “elite/franchise level” could ever mean if he didn't meet it.

Shhh... don’t bring in facts here. Instead let’s try to understand what elite level really means, I suppose.
