Definitely

Only 3 offers at this point. Hopefully we can hang on to him. Can’t wait to have a legit FG kicker again.

Yea, after we lost out on Will I started texting and calling a couple folks to see if we either 1) were gonna offer Cade and/or 2) would have a shot at him.

Texas kid - - a Great get. I mean.... the difference between he and Will is micro-fibers. Cade is solid and is an awesome punter. I’ve seen him put up 50+ yard punts with 5 sec hang.

Strong leg and very polished mechanics. He is ready on day one. Cannot tell you guys how excited I am about this. I’ve seen him kick in person and he is the real deal.

I’m out of town for the Memorial Day but I know I made a notes on his stats at one of the camps. when I get him I will check my notes and post a few stats to give you guys a better idea of why this is awesome.

How does such a highly rated kicker have so few offers? Seems like every school in America would just automatically offer highly rated kickers since so many games hinge on a field goal or two.

Is this a common thing in recruiting kickers?

Probably a question better left for Barrister (or Bass (I think that’s his name) who seemed to be a former kicker with some knowledge in the Reichard thread).

But in my amateur opinion I would say it is probably b/c it is not a position recruited and taken every year. Not every school is going to use a spot in their class to sign a kicker when they already have one or two on roster. Generally not any worries about that guy leaving early for NFL or anything; so you know you’ll have them for at least 4 years. Plus, from what I’ve gathered in reading some other posts from Barrister, most teams tend to wait till a little later to offer after seeing how their class is shaping up or the coach has connections to these private kicking coaches that will help feed them a kicker at some point.

LSU was just in a position where they knew they were going to need one, and a really good one at that, starting with 2019 season.

Appreciate the answer.

I could see that being the case in the macro sense of recruiting kickers, but it just seems like the top 5, or especially one of the top 2 kickers would have offers from every corner of the country.

I like his name Cade York and think he'll be a better kicker than Reichard.
