I can only imagine the fricking shitshow it would be if LSU drew the line in the sand and the recruits came out and publicly said something to the effect of, "LSU didn't make me a priority, didn't make it feel like home to me."

Since we wouldn't completely know the coaches stance, people would lose their minds that we weren't making the local players the priority. The backlash would be ten times worse in that scenario, the focus would be 100% on the coaches and not both parties sharing blame.

That's not true though. LSU has been rolling out the red carpet for these guys for years now. How much more at home can they make it for these guys? LSU has shown them the love for this long and they still don't know that they want to play here? That's a red flag to me. And it's ok that they don't know. All I'm saying is that continuing to recruit these guys hard isn't going to change anything. In 4 years of recruiting these guys you've done all you can do.

Speedy and GW probably would say that something to the effect of what you said had LSU started recruiting heavily elsewhere, but they were looking for excuses to get out. LSU didn't give them those excuses but they still went elsewhere. It's the same end result. Hootie gave excuses. CRob gave excuses. All of these kids want to give excuses because they don't want to just say "I don't want to play at LSU." It's always because we didn't recruit their friends, or the offense, or we left their mom alone, or some other crap. No one wants to say "I don't like LSU." So if they said they weren't made a priority I would call BS all day.

Before the season, Speedy said that he wanted to go to a team that would use his talents the best. He thought that would be a clean out for him right there, since we all know what LSU's offense looked like last year. He didn't expect LSU to be as prolific on offense as they were, so he was stuck having to publicly consider LSU when he wanted to go to A&M all along.

the only significant backlash would be not getting all the local 5 stars, maybe only getting 1-2 of the 5 stars. hmmmmm

Anybody with any knowledge would realize LSU recruited the shite out of the kids from there soph year on, and didn't want to get left holding the bag at some point.

Coaches make their own job easier when they get the best players possible. Eventhough some Torshiros out there try to make staff look bad by saying they didn't recruit me hard enough( might as well say Im so great I deserved my arse kissed more by grown men), fan response of believing that shite is stupid.

What I read this morning on a premium board:

Speedy was told that he wouldn't be tested for drugs at A$M "Straight from the coaches mouth"

this was confirmed by another source that Speed asked the LSU staff a similar type question about testing...so he was worried some habits would be dealt with...and Ellis was a big part of swinging him to A$M.

Tony Brown just flat out lied to the Coaches.

Willis made a 14 on his ACT test and will have to make up some ground up to qualify at UF.

Both Willis and Noil appear to be two guys that might be trouble, but make no mistake that are elite talents.

Brown, Speedy and Willis all 3 told the LSU coaches they were coming. Miles was shocked while eating popcorn watching the 5 for 5 announcements on 1/2.

For some reason I feel like Brown is going to be injury prone and fall back to Track and I would wager that Speedy and or Willis will be in the newpaper for Character type issues.

Youth can be a tough thing, I'd still love to have these players...but we can at least look at the situation objectively...and I really don't know if it's all the bad losing Speedy and Willis

We will know in 3 years.

It was also suggested the had Saban went to Texas, we might have lost Fournette.

The Saban factor is very very strong pull for kids, they want to play for the best (at least that appears to be the perception out there)... We just have to accept it.

CRob was forced to announce by Coach Shows. It was becoming a spectacle with the handlers at the school everyday and Cribs dad hired on as a Bama recruiting staffer.

In hindsight, I don't think the coaches could have done anything better or different- we simply live in a time when these kids are put on a pedestal and know they can exploit the media like a god awful Kardashian or Obama show. But once they sign, then it's time to put up or shut up- I hope they live up to the expectations they were given and they exploited!

And I guess my point is I don't think the staff can just sit by and say "oh we got lied to, stuff happens."

As recruiting becomes a bigger and bigger deal, this shite is going to just get worse, on bigger stages. Someone that would lie to a program is someone that likely never intended on going there in the first place. You tell these kids that we're recruiting guys for their position while they take their time to make their decision, and a lot of these liars will fall by the wayside.

We've done a great job on OOS recruits, focus even more on OOS recruits. The in-state guys will either come to LSU or they won't. Continuing to burn the midnight oil on them won't make a difference because the staff has been doing it for years.

How do you know this? Did Miles tell you this personally? If they did then screw um.

Id say it is time to draw a line in the sand, other teams do it..We are sitting at 18 commits while other teams have 24-33 and little worries about decommits...

If you commit to us, dont decommit or we are moving on.

I ilke our OOS guys and they will be players for us like Garrett, Adams, Voorhies and UpChurch.

The family style of recruiting is playing out, it is now time to talk the business and NFL angles.
