Honda EU2000i

Fridge/freezer
HDTV
Lamp
Cell phone charger

Running nowhere near full power. Started it up at 6pm and haven refueled yet.

Stove and water heater are gas so I'm set. Will kill the fridge for the night and run two fans on me while I sleep.

Honda something or other. Cranked it up yesterday to make sure it would run. Looks like I may not need it at all.

Well, nothing right now because the power is on. Otherwise I'd have the house on it.

When the wife and I buy our real home, I'm putting in a standby generator.

True story: Our business has a diesel backup generator. A few years ago there was a widespread and persistent outage and the generator didn't come on. We called the service guy and he diagnosed the problem as a dead 9 volt battery in the starter. He didn't have one and all the stores were closed because of the power being out. I went home and got the battery out of something or other at my house and we cranked it up.

Pretty much the reason I had my stand-by installed. That and to never have to sit in gas lines again with ten 5-gallon gas cans.

Same here. Will always have one installed if I build again.

As powerful as they are they are usually easy to fix in my experience. I remember during Gustav I had a problem with mine and some part that was "unbreakable" broke... The guys were down from Wisconsin and were at my house within an hour after the storm started to die down from it's peak and though they didn't have the actual part, they chartered a plane and flew it down here (along with a few other parts for other area customers) as soon as they could find an open runway. Left me with a shite ton of portable generators in the meantime and then at the end sold 4 or 5 $1000+ generators to me for $350 a piece. I bought them and gave one to family and kept the rest in case I ever needed them again.

Generac are good dudes. I highly recommend buying a stand-by from them.
