I saw they have people meeting at the home depot in Laplace if you have a boat to volunteer. I would like to go help but don't know who to contact. Does anyone have any info on what's going on, If they still need help, etc etc

Facebook posts mostly.
It looks like rescue operations may be suspended for the night, but you can always haul your boat to Home Depot to see. People are still wading out to the Home Depot.

What are the chances I can get from baton rouge to the Laplace home depot?

100%. Take airline and ride in the left lane due to fallen trees.

How bad is it in Laplace?

We stopped after it got dark. People were trying to jump in the boat full of people.
