Might have missed it but what are you spraying it with in April? Mine pretty much killed itself off eventually. It was a little spotty for a few weeks

Certainty is the best option from what I read.

I’m a little worried that the upcoming 90/70 temps will kill our seedlings.
Should I be?
Mine just sprouted this weekend

forgive my ignorance.....I know I'm asking likely dumb questions but I post them just to confirm.

Is that too hot for those seedlings? What's the ideal temps?

90+ and dry will slowly kill your rye grass in the spring and summer.

I think we’ll be ok at 89-90, but it’ll be a good idea to keep water on it.

50 to 75 is ideal.

Thanks for all your help. I’m definitely new to this. It’s been dry here for the last month. Do you think it would be fine to just throw out the seed and set the sprinklers on it for a while? I know people talk about getting a seeder. Is that something I can rent?

A regular spreader is fine as is throwing by hand.

I threw it out while totally smashed last October and it turned out really thick.
Make sure to save some seed because it'll inevitably fill in better in some areas than others (sprinkler coverage, puddling effects, etc.).

So after a couple of weeks, take a look at what you've got and try to fill in the rest.

Good luck!

Good idear

Just spread my seed on Friday and didn't feel like I spread it out as evenly as I would like. Guess I'll find out in 9 months, i mean a week or two on how well those seeds germinate.

My seed was spread well and this rain helped tremendously.
It’s been a week and it’s grown just about everywhere and is about 2-3” long.
Should I cut it now or let it fill in a bit more and get rooted better before cutting it short?
First time rye grass grower here.
Is it going to get thicker on its own, as in grow and drop seeds itself to continue to grow or will it just be the seeds that I spread out that make up the grass thickness?
