A good one that handles most all pests for these type plants??

Thanks.

Battling leaf spot on the tomatos now. Spayed an antifungal on them and mulched under them.

Boudinman will tell you Bifenthrin, but I will rehash the topic.

No brand of 7.9% Bifenthrin that he recommends in that thread that you can buy lists it for use on food crops. Every label specifically states not to use it on food crops. None of the labels on any brand that you can buy off of the shelf or online even list garden pests on the listed insects/pests section. Every label has no mixing information for garden pests. They have no rate of application for garden pests.

Make your own decision with that information regarding what insecticide you choose to spray on the food that you and your family will eat.

So, you're growing cabbage this time of year???? For me, that is a fall/winter crop as it tastes better when grown under cool/cold conditions.

Bifenthrin 25% is sold through farmers cooperatives and those chemical companies list the various vegetables that it can be sprayed upon and the rates. This 25% is 3 times stronger than what you can buy off the shelf at 7.9%. I dont know what else to tell you other than 1 tsp of the 7.9% bifenthrin in 1 gallon water isnt a strong solution. Now dont mix the 7.9 % bifenthrin, at the recommended rate of 1 oz(2TBSP) per gallon of water to spray around the house, and spray this on your garden vegetables. Why? Because that would be 6X stronger than the 1 tsp (bifenthrin 7.9%) per gal of water I recommended for garden spraying.

Click on link. Scroll down the page to Insecticides and then click on Bifenthrin.

Permethrin 10% will work okay. The Hi-Yield brand label says it can be sprayed on vegetables. The Permethrin 10 at TSC label doesnt list it for vegetables. Therefore Legendinmymind will tell you that you CANNOT buy and use the one from TSC on your garden due to label not saying it's okay for gardens. Same chemical same concentration.

The problem with permethrin is its been around for years and most bugs are immune to it. It wouldnt kill aphids on my okra last year. I started using bifenthrin. It's a much newer chemical that's on the market and will kill nearly all pests.

Hi- Yield

I sprayed Talstar Bifenthrin 7.9 at 1 oz per gallon on my back patio and front door wall areas when the mosquitos were super thick on these walls last year. After spraying, for the duration of the mosquito onslaught, I had so many dead mosquitos on the ground it looked like I dumped bags of black rice.
Bought the gallon jug after reading this suggestions on this forum.

Hey boudinman, that is me giving you the upvotes

And to put to rest this debate with Boudinman.

If I'm holding a bottle of literal poison in my hand, and on that bottle of poison it says, "Do not apply to food crops" I won't being applying it to food crops that myself and my family intend to eat. I certainly wouldn't be soaking my garden from one end to the other in it "Every two weeks".

Some people may not value their health, or anything else's health, as much as I do. That's fine, that's a personal choice.

Legend, with all due respect,

I first wrote that I bought that jug of Talstar 7.9 for the garden and used it on mosquitos.

But then edited garden out to avoid adding any animosity to this thread regarding use on vegetables.

Its ok if me and boudin use it on vegetables and its ok if you don't. Boudin and I don't care about your use. P.S. When the Jap Beetles are shredding and killing your tomatoes Talstar will stop it quick.
