I just went through the process of cutting buds from a fiddle leaf fig and getting them to start growing new roots. Just planted them and trying to figure out the right amount to water them. I know overwatering is a no no for these. I am getting a lot of different recommendations online so I’m hoping y’all can point me in the right direction. TIA

I would guess to just make sure that the soil around the cutting doesn't dry out and that it drains. I don't know what else you could do. Just figure out the frequency and amount of water application.

Keep soil wet by do not drown. They'll do fine indoors or outdoors.

The best soil for the new cutting would be something that drains really well. Maybe like a succulent or cactus mix you can buy in a small bag at a home improvement store.

I bought the tropical plant mix from Miracle Gro. It has lava rocks mixed in to help absorb excess water. Hopefully that helps. Just couldn't find a definitive answer on how much water and how often to water a newly planted cutting. I will post in a few weeks if what I am doing is working for anyone else interested.
