It certainly can, especially in cases were it's buried or can be subject to freezing. PEX doesn't care about corrosive conditions, can shrug off a freeze cycle that bursts copper, etc. They both have pros and cons like any other system. Same for Pro-Press systems.

No wetness or hissing but I noticed this one small section of the slab was unusually warm, used my thermal camera to see a clear outline as well as the heat trace of the old copper line that used to feed a laundry nook that had been converted into additional storage cabinets years ago, long before the current owner. Well, the leak detection company came today and verified that there is no leak on any of the potable water system by doing a pressure drop test. This is quite a relief to hear, that there is no leak in the slab.
The bad news is, I still don’t know what is leaking. He did agree with my theory that air conditioner condensate is what is leaking.
I have a second plumber coming tomorrow morning to check it out. This plumber supposedly has all kinds of bore scopes, etc. and will check out the air conditioner condensate line and the sewer pipe that it is supposed to be dumping into. My hopes are that we find a plugged up sewer vent that the condensate line is dumping into that is overflowing.
