testimony as to which brand is best? The main thing is that it filters good, helps water/ice taste better and that the replacement filters are non-proprietary.

I've been researching but can't seem to find the best package...

I grabbed a Waterdrop G2P600 + and Alkaline remineralization filter (WD-ALK16) a few weeks ago. No complaints so far. Just make sure you have a constant power source under the sink to plug it to. Outlet under my sink was switched for garbage disposal.

From my research, the three main players are Waterdrop, iSpring, and APEC. Believe all are Chinese made but iSpring is headquartered in Atlanta or something. Waterdrop tends to be cheaper/on-sale more vs iSpring.

This is great info! Thank you!

Do you know if the system can also connect to a stand alone ice maker? I'm guessing there are connecters for that which must be purchased separately but, as a woman, I hate researching this stuff.

I have an iSpring and small faucet next to my main faucet for drinking water. It does a good job and the filters are cheap.

Regarding an ice maker, I’m not sure how that setup would work. I have a 2.5 gallon collection tank that feeds the faucet and is slowly fed by the RO system. It’s a slow process hence the tank. I assume it could maybe be accomplished with a large enough tank to satisfy the draw of the ice maker

TY!
I'm trying to avoid a tank....really do not want the maintenance. In your opinion, do tanks take much maintenance?

Maintenance is pretty much changing the filters periodically. I probably let mine go too long but have never had a noticeable flavor decline. Usually it’s a flow reduction and I am reminded of how old the filters are.

I have had a tank fail. The tank has a bladder inside for pressure and that seems to be the point of failure. You have to muscle out the tank and plop the new one in place. ($30 on Amazon)

I believe so. Someone alluded to it, but you will probably need an auxiliary tank to pressurize the system to make the longer run to the ice maker. Look up “Waterdrop PMT” on Amazon.

APEC. No issues. Remineralization filter. Change filters every year. Also goes to my refrigerator ice maker. With Louisiana’s very lax drinking water regulations, everyone should have an RO filter for drinking water.
