maybe atrazine for St. Aug lawns. I bought a jug only to find out that I can't use it on my bermuda grass lawn. I will use it somewhere just not on my lawn LOL

You can’t do anything for dallisgrass in St Aug except for dog it or round up. You can use atrazine in Bermuda just not after it starts greening up.

Is there a more environmentally friendly weed killing alternative to atrazine? I don’t it to go into the water run off and turn the frogs gay.

Atrazine is harmful to water and you should follow the label. Environmentally friendly is a tricky word to use for herbicides. They all have material safety data sheets available to read. I only use atrazine for specific treatments and I don’t full spray lawns with it. Msm is really easy on the environment but won’t work on most grassy weeds.

I read that vinegar is useful or is that hippy bullsit?

It looks very similar to St. Aug... just leave it be. The St. Aug should eventually choke it out, right?

Seems like the stuff spreads like wildfire
it spreads locally in my experience. 1ft clump will become 5ft in a couple weeks. Only way I know to kill it is the round up on a glove technique. Last spring/summer, I had to do this 3-4 times to get it all but I'm mostly free now. When you see it pop up in the future dig it up.

I’ve been posting this good article on Dallisgrass control LINK out of Texas A&M for a couple years.
As ronk stated, in St Augustine grass, spot spraying clumps it with roundup or digging it up or a combo of both is the most practical options for homeowners. It may kill a little of the surrounding St Augustine but on the upside St Augustine fills in dead areas fairly quickly, controlling Dallisgrass comes at at temporary cost of visual aesthetics.
