Anyone have experience with Makaira Landscape and Pool Company?

Makaira is reputable. I know a couple people that have had their pools built by them with no issues years later.
That said, every pool company sucks to work with during the build. It seems to be a universal trait that they are all terrible at communicating and performing QA. You will spend way more time than you think inspecting their work and calling the office to find out the status of issues.

I used Russell Pool Company last year. No complaints. Would definitely recommend.
No matter who you end using, you should inspect the work of all the subs and bring up issues as they come up.

We put a gunite pool in and it took 2 years to complete and there are still things that need to be done.
Make sure you understand that they will and especially won’t be doing. I will never put another one in.
That said, if there were a pool builder in the state that would actually do what he said, he could retire in about 15 years.

Every pool guy has customers who love his work and customers who hate his work. From friends and builders experiences, pool guys with more pros then cons would be Guy Oliver, Ewing, Russell and Makaira.
