They were talking about this the other day. They phase out a product, you replace the entire unit, with a more efficient unit. They were saying the ozone is in better shape, than when they first started taking readings.

I’m in Mississippi. Just replaced a unit with a 410 after another a-hole said 454b was mandatory. This was entirely misleading because you can still sell 410 but the other guy simply didn’t have any 454b from his suppliers. They guy I ended up going with said for the time being the 410 is cost effective to replace and Freon is in good supply while 454b ramps up, eventually 410 will be harder to get and as a result, more expensive, but it will be a while. As explained above 454 is slightly more flammable and current supply isn’t even caught up considering the new regulations.
The fricking over of consumers under the guise of “climate control” is a scandal which is entirely underreported and needs to be dealt with. Costs homeowners a fricking shitload of money

So you’re saying this is a drop in replacement for r22? A quick research says that r22 uses mineral oil where r438a uses another oil, but could work with modifications beyond a homeowners capability, lol. Do tell.
