My wife and I have laminate "wood" flooring that initially sustained some water damage in isolated spots, and the affected areas have ultimately darkened and discolored. Over time, in a couple of those areas, the flooring has started to chip and break loose.

Unfortunately, we cannot replace the damaged boards individually, because this particular product is no longer manufactured or stocked.

Does anyone have expertise or suggestions with respect to repairing these areas? The chipped areas are about one inch by two inches, but they may expand with time. I would like to repair as opposed to replacing the entire floor in this room, as we are likely selling the house in 2020.

As a sub-inquiry, there are other areas in the room that have darkened over time. Any method to get the color back to a uniform state? If this is not a job I can do myself, suggestions for companies to contact in the Metairie area?

All responses are greatly appreciated!

your only remedy is to pull the flooring up in closets somewhere to patch the bad sections, then just redo that closet flooring with something that looks really close in width pattern and color and only you will notice the miss match

This is your only way to fix things on the cheap.

i had water damage and replaced the whole thing last year. i wouldn’t try to piece meal it since when you try and replace the one from the closet it probably won’t have the same tongue and groove to match
