You bought some bad gas and had an interaction with one dude who might be an a-hole, so now Stihl products and Ace are crap. Got it.

Yes , I agree this is likely the answer.

I’ve never had a problem with Stihl or a local ACE hardware. Though I bought my Stihl stuff from local lawnmower place.

You can pour fuel in a mason jar (or other clear container) and see if it separates, the water and gas will separate immediately.

This is the way.

hey man you can ignore the OPs public service announcement all you want, your funeral. I’m throwing away my two stihl saws and picketing the local Ace.

all that is needed for evil to prosper is for good men to stay silent

All those PNW and Canadian timber jacks are fricked. They gotta sell all their saws now and get huskies!

Merle Haggard would be so happy to know that they figured out how to burn water!

Stihl 2-stroke oil was the gold standard for a long time. It was formulated by Castrol and was blended and packaged by Omni in Shreveport. I remember probably 6-8 years ago they had a bad batch go out that would seperate and was eating saws that sat up for a few months, so I switched to Klotz since I was already running it in my CR250. The equipment is "stihl" top notch but I no longer use their premix in my saws. I think another issue was a lot of people using the suggested 50:1 and saws running hot. I've always been closer to 40:1 or even 32:1 as I'd rather foul a plug than lock up an engine, and when my saw is running I run it hot enough to blow any fouling out anyways.

OP I don't even think I touched on your post I just felt like ranting. Stihl equipment is top-tier, stihl oil is mid-tier, water in the gas concerns neither of these things. You can always take the easy way out and buy a gallon of TOPFUEL that can sit on the shelf for a year without degrading too bad.
