Starts right up and runs for about an hour then stops. Turns over but won’t start. Let sit for about 10 minutes then starts up and runs but will cut for about 20 minutes then stops again. What could be the issue? I’m thinking coil.

that is a reasonable assumption, 9 out of 10 times it does that, its the coil that is going bad

they arent super pricey ($15-$20) so replace it using a business card as spacer from the flywheel.

you can look at some here LINK

Mine did the exact same thing, ended up being the coil.

that fricking word correct loves to rewrite the shite we type

you use a business card, not a credit card, hell you couldnt even do it with a credit card

you can also use the thin cardboard box from the stuff you buy, it gives you the spacing you need. too much gap and you get weak or even no spark, not enough gap and it hits the flywheel and breaks the coil

A long time ago, I had a B&S engine that was stored outside behind my small shop. The engine would get wet or damp and would not start.

I learned that the coil would not work after it got exposed to moisture. I bought a second coil as a spare. I kept the spare inside. I got to where I could change the coil in a couple of minutes and the engine would start right up.

This is why it’s important to detail your lawn mower every few weeks
