Couple of coats of polyurethane on rough cut aromatic cedar.
Insecticide treatment options?

If you're talking podwer post beetles, those things are a pain in the arse to get rid of.

I had some rough sawn oak installed in my new build, 4 days after move in I had them remove it all... presents of powder post beetles. Would wake up to saw dust on the counters... they can be just as destructive as termites if left untreated.. I believe they say Borax is the best option.

I somehow got them in the front door of my house. Tiny holes and powdery sawdust was showing up on the framework of the raised panels.

I tried several different chemical applications, but they just kept doing their thing. I hit the salvage yards and found a door that fit and tossed the original door. Problem solved.

This^

Tear out shelves infested and burn them. Start over. They’ll get into other areas of your house. Get rid of them ASAP

I talked to an exterminator about a piece I salvaged that potentially had powder post beetles in them and their response was unless it's a very valuable piece toss it out. You have to gas them to kill them.

A lot of the reclaimed guys won't touch potentially infected stuff because they can emerge after all the work is done leaving them on the hook to replace the items.
