I don't live in BR, but I had one repaired at a pool supply store. Does BR have a pool supply store you can check with?

What's wrong with it? I just rebuilt my dolphin m200 damn near from the ground up with less than $100 in parts.

I can help you source the parts if you can tell me what's wrong.

Pool store will want $500+ to change a couple doodads.

no shite, I have the m200 as well. It won’t run at all, I push button and it just sits there. Where did u get parts. When I looked at maytronics website all they have are belts, wheels, etc.

I learned a valuable lesson. You can not let the power supply get wet without that rubber cover on the power port. Cost me 299 to get new power supply.

we can take this to email unless everyone wants to hear me ramble; but its likely the tread has gotten tangled on one side. you might need to look w/ a flashlight if so.

i would 'fix' my tread and throw it back in but 2 weeks later it would happen again and i finally realized something else was causing the issue.

here's what i did:

- took it apart (4 screws, be careful w/ the blue cable but if you pop the little black screen of (nickel or flathead screwdriver) the cable will 'slide' under the ball so you can get the top out of the way. do NOT unscrew where the cable is connected becuase you don't think you have enough play to move the cover. just gently pull the blue cable through the ball until you can lay the cover on the side.

- speaking of cover..look closely at the underside. there is thin gutter that goes all the way around on the underside. when it comes time to put it back together, take you time and make sure its in the guide/gutter or you'll drive yourself crazy wondering why it won't 'snap into place.' its an optical illusion

- ok so 4 screws and you're good to go. there are 2 side parts; they will come off if you pull them gently; they are locked into the 3 guide wheels on each side so pull gently out and then you can pull it free from the 3 tabs along the bottom. NO NEED TO STICK A SCREWDRIVER to release the 3 tabs at the bottom; once the side is free of the guide wheels it will come right off.

i had a blown wheel (half the steel balls were gone) but while you have it apart i would suggest replacing *ALL SIX* because it would suck to replace the weak/broken wheel and have another go out next week.

$48 + 10% off coupon

Thats the most expensive part of the repair.

Ok, while you have it open, I would replace the 'magic eraser' wheels (4 of them) with new ones because you'll be amazed at how much better it will climb out of the pool and clean the sides.

$28

To do this, just take the front brush/axle off (its a grooved notch so you don't need to use any force to remove one side of the axle, just gently move it out.

I did these one side at a time (only take on end of the axle out) and took the old one off like unrolling a condom and then the same to roll the new one into place. take your time and it will 'pop' into place and make sure none of the little rubber tabs are under it; just use your finger to free any that are under the wheel. inspect it carefully.

***

Ok, those are the 2 most expensive parts but those elements get the biggest workout and definitely wear out so you want to take care of that while you've got it open.

I went ahead & bought 2 new treads because they're cheap and i didn't want to risk the tread getting hung up again because my old ones were stretched or going bad.

$18 for treads

Those are pretty easy to get on but the tolerance w/ new ones is tight so be patient and make sure you get the rollers on correctly.

****ONE IMPORTANT THING*** before replacing the wheel bearings, NOTE THE NOTCHES. There are notches on the dolphin and notches on one side of the wheels so DOUBLE CHECK you are putting these on correctly and they are lined up in the notches. Very easy to just assume they go either way but that's not true. they'll look like they went on fine even if the notched side is facing out, but they're not. DONT IGNORE THIS or you'll end up with a wheel bearing coming off.

Take your time threading the tread around the wheels and make sure you've pulled as much slack out as possible when getting it around the middle wheel. keep in mind even if it feels like the tread is pulling the wheels down, once you carefully line up the side cover the wheels will be held in place by the plastic grooves on the side piece. just take your time and make sure the wheels are in the slots on the outer side cover and then that bad boy will snap into place.

just repeat for the other side.

OH - One side of the dolphin has a hexagonal brass drive nut/b that will fall out and the other side has nothing. Make sure you don't lose this because its the most important part of the whole thing. It will fall ou when you take the middle guide wheel off on the drive side. don't panic when you don't see one of those on ther other side because there's only one side that drives it.

Finally my filter bags were shot and one of the steel rods was MIA so i finally found some reasonably priced replacements (OEM) at this site:

$9.98 for 2 bags

BONUS - That site also contains the exploded diagram of the dolphin so bookmark it in case you need to know the #s for other parts.

<--- @live.com if you have any questions or need any help. i just did this 2 weeks ago.

i've taken my dolphin apart about 10x now so i've gotten good at the quirks if you have any concerns.

difficulty - about 3/10. nothing is hard about this if you go slow and don't try to force anything back together. i think it took me about 2 hours but i am old and move like a snail.

i'm not sure that is your issue, but keep in mind the robot is 'dumb' and is just a bunch of mechanical parts and the 'brains' are all in that maytronic control box on your deck that is sealed and generally not the issue unless you dropped it in the pool or something.

more than likely if its not moving its because its jammed in some way. maybe something is caught up in the treads or its jumped the wheel guides.

pool stores charge WAY too much to fix this and maytronic/dolphin makes it seem like its not user-serviceable.

All this is correct. I have a 4 year old Dolphin Nautilus Plus and it stopped moving one day. Tread had jumped off the drive wheel up inside it. Replaced some parts I bought from the same website you linked. Runs like a top still.

Took it completely apart down to cracking open the motor case as even with it disassembled wasn’t getting any power. Starting testing voltage and it was the damn slip yoke on the cord wasn’t making contact. Woulda been 30 second fix if I woulda checked it first.

Little WD-40 on the prong and it popped out and she’s good as new. L

Had it completely disassembled and back together in an hour. Here’s what the inside of motor box looks like if anyone has problems in future.

You were right, really not much to them. Glad I quit being lazy and fiddled with it.

Clean those filters with cascade powder (nothing else!) and you'll be amazed how much better it performs. It needs a good water flow through them.

CAD- great repair post! I dig seeing this type of thing in this "just buy a new one " world we live in. It I throw something in the trash you can best believe it can't be fixed!
