Yes it is normal, water is supposed to be in the p trap, but the lack of use might have caused some type of issue.

Your pee trap dried out. Reason as to why flies came up. Happens at my house due to nobody uses one of the bathroom tubs.

This thread has kinda come in handy when looking at homes for Mom to move into. Because of this thread I was opening cabinets and looking at drain pipes for things like tubs and disposals. Finally got some usage from the Bubble Level app on my phone I downloaded years ago!

Turns out the one she decided to buy has a 4 degree backwards angle off the disposal they are gonna fix. Instead of draining down 4 degrees it was 4 degrees up from the disposal unit. Just like if it was a toilet, gotta run downhill or gonna have waste running back into the disposal and ending up stinking and stuff if not corrected. 1 out of 10 homes had this error.
