I’m with Ziggy. The idea of it is to keep your grass looking the way you want it to look for longer (without having to cut it again).
Since it takes about 3 days to take affect, I would apply just before it looks it’s very best, whatever height that is for you.
For best methods for reapplication, follow GDD. Growing Degree Days.
Down here, I’d guess you’ll be spraying every 10–14 days.
Since my grass is still expanding, I haven’t used any this summer so my first hand experience is limited.

I have seen gdd mentioned but hadn't looked into it yet.
I guess I can fert 1 week and pgr the next through the rest of summer.
Only have a rotary and mowed this morning at lowest.

That looks pretty damn good for a .5” rotary scalp. Most don’t even go below 1.25
Common or hybrid?
How old?

Common
My backyard that had 70-80% St augustine April 30.
Did well spreading the Bermuda without seed.
Just 1 small area left that should fill next week.
I was very surprised how low the mower gets.
Just a cheap remington 110 that I bought to mow the median strip in front of the house at the entrance of subdivision.
Front yard is next conversion .
Mix of centipede,st aug and common.
Thinking about spraying quinclorac and then using the electric scarifier to rip it all up when dead and let the Bermuda spread out.

I think I’m ready to give it a try.
I’m pleased with the expansion this year, but I find the thickness to be lacking, especially since sand leveling.
Before and after photo is 9 weeks apart.
See what I mean? It’s just not tight. Maybe because I’m cutting too high. I raised it a notch recently

Applied this morning with chelated iron.
Just under .4 oz per 2k sq ft.
Common is rated for .75 oz per thousand, so I started very conservative.
We’ll see how it goes.

Still a week or so to go for me.

You’re right.
After just six days, I’m lovin’ it.
I mowed Monday night and Thursday morning because I wanted to mow right after full effect hit around 3-4 days after application.
Wow. It hasn’t budged since Thursday and I’m watering heavy and fertilized just last weekend.
Color seems to be better and more even, and man is it getting thick!

What is your height of cut and what are you cutting with? I am cutting at 1.25 inches and using a 2653a John Deere triplex.

Was maintaining at 1” but more like 1.5 now
Posted on 8/10/24 at 4:39 pm to bayoubengals88
Do you rather it at 1.5? Ego is that a reel mower?
Posted on 8/10/24 at 5:00 pm to shoelessjoe
I would love it at .75 but I don’t have that kind of time.
I do well to keep it where it’s at. Probably around 1.3” if I measured.
Ego is battery powered rotary.
I’ve modified it with dual blades and small wheel so that I can scalp at .5”

After two apps and working my way up to .4 oz per thousand, the turf has thickened significantly.
The leaves are much denser.

Very impressed with pgr(tnex)so far.
First application at .4oz and 11 days later went with .5oz
Mowed with rotary on Tuesday and went heavy with ammonium sulfate and watered in.
With nothing but rain the last 3 days, I'm astounded with how little vertical growth is showing.
Front yard is as hairy as a hippie.
The other added benefit I just observed was when my dog rakes his claws after a piss or shite hardly any turf comes up and not that noticeable.
Definitely part of my routine next year.
Do we go back to half rate at the start of each growing season?

Wish I would have time this rain better. I applied the night before and it might not have dried well enough.
Oh well, it’s September.

You might be OK.
I sprayed on the 27th because felt it would rain the rest of week last week.
It rained the next day .
I think it was around 18 hours after application though.

Do you remember what mix ratio you used last year for st aug.
I've seen 0.10 to 0.20 fl oz (3-6 mL) of T-Nex per gallon of water for 1000sqft.
Guessing. 05oz first application.
