Does it work better with irrigated lawns vs waiting on rain? It just seemed to stress my grass out. I haven’t had rain in weeks, so I stopped putting it down. I am installing sprinkler system next year.

Start with half as much. Works fine for me but definitely will stress the lawn and compoind problems if you have other types of stress like not watering.

I started off with half rate. I am hoping that with the heat and no rain, that, this is why I’m doubting the problems with it.

Mix in some chelated iron with it to help with tip browning.
What type of turf do you have and what rate are you using? If it's Bermuda, there's different rates for different types of bermudagrass.
I don't think it has anything to do with irrigation / rain IMO.

I added chelated iron with it. It’s common Bermuda and I used the half rate the first time I used it.
