I agreed to let my wife do a full remodel of our house.

We had all electrical appliances but are really considering putting in a 120 gal LP tank and going LP range/oven and tankless water heater.

Anyway, what are the best ones around the 36" size? Is dual electric/Lp worth it?

My wife went and looked at a Thor, Bosch and some Italian thing I've never heard of.

She keeps bugging me about it and I'm tired of hearing about it because I'll never use the damn thing.

i'd go induction over gas.... and it will save you the money and headache of installing the tank and running gas lines.

If it isn’t too much of a pain to run a gas line, it’s worth it IMO.

Faster heating and can be used in the event of a blackout.

I don't think it'd be hard. The range and oven are being relocated from an island to an exterior wall.

So what are good lp range brands? The only LP ranges I've ever used were in 5th wheels.

My wife is looking at a Thor thing that is 36" and lp range with electric oven. Somewhere around $2500 or so. Is it worth a shite?

She wants the 48" but I said no, it's just two of us ffs.

It's not. You just need to find your existing gas line and see if you can run a connection to where you want your new stove.

I don't have any gas lines. Electric only as of this moment.

Then you will probably be better off with induction. Plumbers charge by the distance at which your going and it isn't cheap unless you know how to do the work yourself.

I t really doesn't matter on conveneniece or running lines at this point. They replaced all windows and siding and cut a hole in the kitchen wall to frame a new window in.

And they haven't even started inside yet. This is a mess. I can't believe I let my wife talk me into this.

Wish me luck trying to convince her to choose an induction.

We ran our gas line to our stove from our water heater which was about 8 feet away and through a wall. Cost around $1,000. Just to give you an idea of what we had to do. Induction is much better than electric.

JEN-AIR is running a special where you get $1,400 off 2 appliances right now.

their 36" gas range is around $6k and with the $1400 back you can use that for their top-of-the-line dishwasher so you're looking at maybe $6600 after taxes for a range & dishwasher if you go that route. they can be converted from NG to LP; I tihnk pretty much all high end stoves can.

you definitely want dual fuel; nobody wants a gas oven.

i had a hallman in the past and i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. also avoid the illve (sp?) which is a re-branded hallman. the low prices suck people in but they're problem-central.

zline is hit or miss. another lower-budget dual fuel gas range option and costco runs sales all the time with the various models so that is also an option.

we went induction after debating this topic forever. we have a 120g propane tank already but we would have needed to run a line, convert the stove, have the LP company come out and adjust the flow and in the end, the cost worked out about the same for the induction without worrying about gas.

plus we have a really nice outdoor gas grill station with multiple burners and a sear station on it so we have a gas option when we need it.

take her to a nice appliance store where they have the units plugged in and have them demonstrate getting a pot of cold water to boil in 55 seconds.

take it for what its worth, but my wife is a cook..i mean she cooks the shite out of stuff, worked as a personal chef for awhile and has owned 2 food trucks...anyway she was in the frick NO camp on induction until we went and looked at one.

i think you'll be surprised. what do you have to lose just going and checking one out? you want to make the most informed decision.

I convinced her on an induction and she informed the contractor that we were going to stay electric.

But overall, this has become a mess. Today she told me that I had to move my gun safes out of the house. I told her that's enough bullshite. They're big ones and dang near impossible to move even when empty.

Tell her those are sacred and don't need to be somewhere that some tweaker can break into and shoot everyone.

You design a house around your gun safes not the other way around.

Go shop at a LP vendor that sells stoves, ranges, gas fireplaces, propane tanks, refills tanks, etc. I went through one and bought a lp fireplace gas log set, and am renting their 500 gal tank. They installed the fireplace log set, above ground tank, and ran the gas line to it from the tank. Turn key job. These companies sell water heaters, ranges, etc.. Find one in your area and go visit them.

Well my wife went down to Dallas today to appliance shop. My wife came back talking about a 36" Wolf for $11,500. Does that even seem remotely correct?

And then some crap about Wolf having a sale if you buy 2 items, so now she wants a Wolf dishwasher.

I guess if that's what she wants, I'll probably do it but damn that's high.

That's an unreasonably high price for stove/cooktop IMO. You can get an entire set if Thermador kitchen appliances for near that price.

I have a Frigidaire gas range and the oven igniter went out with it being less than two years old. Got the part from Amazon for cheap and it was a 10 minute part swap with 5 minutes of it rewatching the YT video. That's what I got out of a $1600 oven.

You can probably find a decent brand for half of the Wolf price and put that money elsewhere. Avoid Samsung. You can probably get lucky with LG or KitchenAid. If your budget is higher, I'm not totally familiar with the popular high end brands. It doesn't seem like something worth the money because I can usually fix any common problem with my appliances, even if it annoys my wife for a week.
