New Riding Mower Cut Off And Won't Start

Last week I bought a new Husqvarna 18.5-HP Hydrostatic 42-in Riding Lawn Mower. While I was mowing with it for the first time earlier today, I heard a noise like I ran over something (which I didn't) and it shut off immediately. I have not been able to start it back up.
Any idea what the problem could be? I have tried the solutions listed in the Troubleshooting section of the Operating Manual, but nothing has worked.

What happens when you turn the key? Does the engine turn over?
Did you check the belt? Noise like you ran over something when you didn't sounds like it possibly threw the belt. If the belt is jammed up somewhere between the tensioner, pulleys, a guide, etc. the engine will die when you try to turn the blades.

Need a better description. Does it turn over just not start up? Does it click? Does it do nothing when you turn the key?
I am probably not the right guy to help you but anyone who can will need that info to give you a reasonable guess. Just make sure to check the fuel tank, don't want this guy making fun of you.

Just a quick thought based on decades old experience with a much cheaper brand. There is typically a safety switch under the seat that used to be a constant source of irritation on Murray riding mowers, you might check that and get a work around for it if that is the problem. There may be another safety switch as well. If it is a safety switch, I think it won't even turn over and it would kill immediately.

This might seem silly, but have you disengaged the mowing function and renegades it? There is usually a knob or something you pull or push to engage the blade. It it is stopped suddenly by an object, it usually has to be reset.

It makes one click. Headlights won't flicker when I try to start it. Engine doesn't make any noise. A new mower should not be this easy to mess up, especially when it was in the normal course of mowing on a flat yard.
I have gone from excited all week to mow with it for the first time, to ready to take a sledgehammer to it.

Make sure the blade belt is disengaged, clutch is pushed in all the way, weight is on the seat. Jumper cables should eliminate the possibility of a dead battery if you haven't tried that.

Excellent advice

Mine does this every time. I’ve just gotten accustomed to when I lift the seat to check the fuel level I wiggle the pressure switch before I get on it.
