I have one. Full sun and growing nicely. Beautiful tree. I’d snap a pic but may be too dark this evening

How old is your Baton Rouge?

I ordered it in June of 2021 from Mr. Maple according to my order history. I totally meant to grab pics this morning. It keeps growing nicely. There is a little defoliation and budding out at the moment. I think the lack of rain really nipped it, but it's bouncing back just fine.

The most recent pictures I can find that have it in there are from May. You can get an idea of how big it is getting

Its on the right side of this picture, sorry about the quality.

Was it a 1-gallon or bigger?

Looks great!

It was just a one gallon twig. I was in the process of building the pool and figuring out my landscaping, so it did not go into the ground until November of 2021.

Nice look with the mix of conifers with maples , is your Baton Rouge about
6' ? All mine are in the ground now and I built cages around to protect from the deer Back in the spring a deer nipped the top of my Hot Blonde, but it has recovered. I started putting deer guard cages on after that.

Thanks. I like the asian garden feel, and everything but my maples are evergreen so it looks full and lush year-round.

It's probably closer to 4-5 feet if you measure the very tips of branches. I was mostly worried when it was a twig that it'd get trampled by me or my boys. I put white rocks around it to help see it. Luckily no prairieville deer in my fenced in yard.

I'm planning on doing one of these too. What else do you have in that garden? Japanese black pine?

-Two Thunderhead Japanese Black Pines (my favorite thing I've ever planted)
-A lot of cryptomeria japonica nanas (they seem to have some crunchy death problems but I love them as soft meatball shrubs)
- Hollywood Juniper
- Goldmop cypress
- lots of standard ground cover junipers (nana, blue pacific, etc)
- Cedrus deodara ‘Gold Cascade’
- Small goldilocks Japanese white pine in a pot
- Cryptomeria Black Dragon

Appreciate the help.

Also, what about those garden statues? Those are sweet too.

Thanks again.

We picked the foo dogs up on a trip to Houston from Maas nursery. They had a nice selection of asian statuary in their bonsai section. I did figure out they are made by this company and distributed to nurseries

This guy in southern Georgia also seems to bring in some awesome things. I've been trying to find a reason to go that direction.
