I just had a huge pecan tree cut down in our front yard (it died). Can I use the mulch from the tree stump for the beds? I know some mulch might be too alkaline or acidic. We have boxwoods, indian hawthorns, and some viburnum.

I dont know anything about pecan in particular, but outside of that you absolutely can. You can also bag the pecan and use it in the smoker or give it away to someone that smokes/ bbq.

It will be a mixture of mulch and dirt if you used a grinder…
Can not use in a smoker…. I have thrown my oak everywhere.. used it to fill low spots in yard.. beds etc…your stump area will sink in time so save some or pill it up a little there . my tree guy hauled off a lot of mine but still had a lot.. I also told all my neighbors to bring a wheelbarrow over and take what they wanted …

Definitely right, but depending on the size of the stump there's sometimes large areas that are almost all wood. I'd bet you could put them in a barrel or bucket of water and the wood would float and you'd have dang close to full wood chips.

If you have the space, make a compost pile with it so it will kill the weed seeds in the native soil before you move it into the landscape beds. After a few months it will work great.

ill second the compost idea. unless you just want to use it around your trees for insulation and looks.
