Guys,

This has been going on since spring. All of my maples (Silver, Red and Autumn Blaze) have been going through this since spring. I have added iron to the ground (Pelletized), fertilized and then I removed the grass around each's base and mulched. I do have some new growth that has stayed relatively healthy but as you can see the majority of the leaves are not heathy. I have also been supplementing them with water during the extend dry days lately.

Could be Tar Spot fungus. Did the spots start out as yellowish and then turn black?

Not sure to be completely honest. But it did not take long after sprouting leaves to look this way. All trees are near my pond on a levee-type hill so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. But I have other trees that have not fallen victim to whatever this may be.

I had a silver maple and its leaves looked like that every year.

Never thought about it being a disease or anything.

Every maple i ever planted, did the same thing and died!

Not a good tree for the deep south, IMO

Yeah, looks like Tar Spot (fungus). I had a bunch of silver maples that did the same every year.

Hired an arborist to take a look and they said it doesn't really effect the health of the tree.

Try some foliar copper fungicide or a systemic. Bayer makes one like a 3n1 I dunno if that will target fungus though
