What’s the best online resources for landscaping as far as ideas? I have a pretty good green thumb but want to see examples of landscaping. We have an Acadian style house with a high front porch. Was thinking just go with azaleas in the front flower beds and start from there.

If you’re just looking for examples, Pinterest is what you need.
It’s one of the few reasons why I go to the site.

I would hire a professional to install. They’ve done so many and know which plants will look good when it comes to how many you’ll need, which size, spacing to let them grow, height to plant them to avoid root rot, etc.
I wouldn’t hire a landscape architect. Kind of a waste of money sometimes. Just find the landscape crew that has houses they’ve done before that you like. A lot of them have go-to styles.

I used Green Seasons to design my plan for the front and back yards.
Once I had the plan with the plant inventory, I went up to Doug Young’s Nursery in Forrest Hill and bought all the plants.
I estimate that I saved between $5k to $6k on labor and plants.

True story..The other morning I could hear people talking outside my front door. I blew it off thinking it was the mailman. 10 minutes later I could still hear them. I checked and it was two guys getting ready to put shovels in my front lawn. It turns out the landscaping company had the wrong address to a job. If I hadn't been home I would have gotten a free landscaping job or maybe a fight to get my lawn back to the way it was...
