Kubota ZT electrical troubleshooting

I parked my Z725 to blow off the clippings after cutting grass today. Finished cleaning it off and went to crank to pull into garage and it would not even try to turn over. I hear the solenoid click, gas gauge responds immediately and the battery is new. Tried bouncing on the seat and reengaging parking brake, switching blade switch on/off to ensure those interlocks were satisfied. Any ideas?

My scag did that exact thing a couple years ago. Ended up being a "switch" inside the box where the ignition / blade switch on/off etc is mounted if I remember right. I think it sensed the permissives were met from above and sent elect to starter? I finally figured it out after changing ignition switch / starter-solenoid etc.

The blade switch has been acting a little funny lately…

Not a Kubota, but sometimes my Scag won't start unless I push one of the levers down into the neutral switch button.

I have a ZD326 and it DRAINS the battery and won’t start unless it has 85% charged or so. The starter is the only mechanical thing that has given me fits. That and I hate the rear discharge deck.

Try jiggling the parking brake back and forth with key turned like you’re starting it.

My JD’s parking brake switch acts up every now & then, a ‘lil skeet of WD40 gets it back on track…

Do you hear the fuel pump cut on when you turn the key on?

My Kubota Z121 was doing the same. It ended up being the 30 amp cartridge fuse on top the gas tank.

I continue to have issues and I’m not sure I didn’t cause them. I’ve been connecting a 12V plug directly to the battery terminals to use for a sprayer. I have recurring issues with failure to start and dead batteries when I leave the plug connected. I think the connectors are preventing a good tight connection with the nut/bolt on the terminal. I may have to go to a dedicated battery for the sprayer.

I spoke with a service rep from a local Kubota dealer when dealing with my issues. They were suggesting either the cartridge fuse was bad or a safety switch went out (parking brake, seat, and handles.)

My ZD221 gave me fits for a while, ended up being the safety switch on the brake. I unplugged each switch and jumped each connection with a paper clip until I found the right safety switch. As usual the brake was the last one I checked.
