John Deere D130 won't go

So I parked my mower in my shop about a week ago no problems. Had a flat tire I had just been airing up and finally got tired of that and got it plugged. Put tire back on, put fuel in it, start it right, press reverse. Nothing. Check to make sure it's in gear, it is. Try forward, nothing. Roll it out of the shop no problem, with it showing its in gear mind you, and try it again really jamming the little rod to make sure it's in gear. Starts, runs fine, but the drive or reverse won't engage. Blade runs fine.
Any ideas?

Is the transmission engage/disengage rod in the end pushed in or out?

Did you put the axle key back in the keyway after lining up the groove in the axle and the tire rim? If you didn't you can crank it, put it in gear, and see if the axle is spinning inside the rim to verify. Good luck finding the missing key but a new one is only $2-3 from the JD Dealer. Tactor Supply may have some 3/16" square key stock that will work.
