Planted it over a year and a half ago and has done good in the somewhat shaded area. It gets good sun light at times. It has grown about quite a bit in that time with the cold weather this year didn’t appear to bother it. That heat wave last year was brutal but the watering was out of control. That along with my other newly planted 100+ azaleas.
Gotcha. Do you know how big (gallon) it was when you planted it and about how tall it is now?
I'm considering forking out a nice chunk of change for a 7 gallon one.
Thanks for sharing!

I appreciate it. I looked at Tuffshed and decided to build my own. I built two over the course of 2-3 years. One is a fully finished office and the one in those pictures is just my mower shed.
I used plans from here: iCreatables
ETA:
I should add I'd be glad to share more info on the shed builds if anyone cares. I've shared some before in shed threads.

This believe this one was a 5 or 7 gallon and was about ~5ft tall. It’s now easily over 6+. Bought it locally in Folsom, La

I have a few sizes that I grabbed to mix and match wall styles and understand how they were framed, but I don't want to post them here.
Ragincajunz19@gmail.com and I can share a bit more info.

Very Nice. We had one that size at my last house and then just up and died on me.

Just bumping this to mention around Baton Rouge, Louisiana Nursery has their Japanese Maples 50% off starting today. Not a huge selection, but a few cool ones that I might consider grabbing.
Ryusen weeping variety
and the Sango Kaku Coral Bark variety

All Seasons nursery in Lafayette. Not sure if they always have them but they bring in stuff from Iseli Nursery in Oregon and usually has cool stuff no one else has

What fertilizer do you all use on your Japanese maples? Any specific instruction on how to make them grow bigger sooner?

I've tossed down some general osmocote last year. I do not believe they are heavy feeders and I don't think there is much speeding them up. (or so I've been lead to believe)

Very nice variety going on there. Good job. I have an Emperor Japanese Maple. It’s done very well in full sun. It stays red all growing season. Its leaves emerge about 3 weeks after the Blood Goods. From my understanding it’s a good JM to plant farther north too because they don’t come out of dormancy so quick.

How often are you guys watering?
DFW here and I've got 3 that are around chest high. Will try to get some pics.
They've got pretty solid mix of shade/sun and get a little dry but 2 of them made it through last summer.
Just curious what others are doing to manage heat/no rain.

In the OP, the maple pictured just above the thunderhead pines is a murasaki kyohime.. Gets more wide than tall. I have one myself. Beautiful trees. I have around 20 myself.
A few to try to acquire IMO
Moonfire/Fireglow? emporer 1 - Beautiful reds
Ukigumo- green and white depending on variegation
Hana matoi- Pink and green dwarf
Autumn moon- orangeish with red
for a bright sunny spot get a glowing embers. its a green heat tolerant culitvar that takes Alabama heat no problems.
