Insect repellent for patio furniture

Recently I added some lighting and installed a tv on my patio. Now I find I have more annoying bugs attracted to my patio set and they get all over my cushions when any type of light is on. What type of repellent do y’all use to keep the bugs away when the lights are on?
My ceiling fan doesn’t help but I’ve also read something about putting some peppermint essential oils on the furniture to help repel the bugs, but haven’t tried it.
Note: currently sitting in my patio babysitting some ribs this early in the morning

I haven’t had much luck with essential oils, etc. they make some spray that is made to spray tents and other fabrics when camping out that I would try. It would be around the insect repellents in the camping section of Walmart. It kills insects instead of just repelling them.

I do lemon grass around my patio furniture and it seems to help. Been doing it for a couple years now. Not into the chemicals so can’t help there.
