I bought a bird of paradise (I think) from the local nursery a couple weeks ago. I think it was only like $20

HD has all their potted plants 20% off right now. Look into Pothos Ivy. They prefer higher light but will do ok in less . Peace Lily is a good low light one but it is a water hog.
Dracaena is another that I would recommend. There are a TON of species of these so just find what you like.
Parlor Palm would be another good one, if you are looking for a super low maintenance tropical looking plant.

Though I don’t have any, I understand that ZZ plants are great, particularly in low light situations. I do have peace lily (Spathiphyllum) which does well in low light. Needs to be watered no more than once a week, probably more like 10-14 days.
