There's a few floating around in Reddit or the internet, but it's useful to have a spreadsheet of list of monthly, yearly, every other year etc. Maintenance list items.
Cleaning out dryer vents, looking in crawl space/attic, looking at the trees in the yard etc. It's a lot easier and sometimes cheaper to mitigate issues if you discover them sooner rather than when a dead tree falls on your roof, roots tear up your foundation/sidewalk/driveway, or when you go to sell your house and the next inspector finds stuff that was probably present before that your previous inspector missed.

any lessons y'all learned the hard way? thanks in advance.
Absolutely agree on the home inspectors being worthless. When we bought last year the inspection picked up a few minor things, nothing special.
What he did NOT pick up on was the 3 central units being original to the house (built in 97). The outdoor units were replaced 2 years ago, and so he told us the systems were all new.
We already had to replace one, and it's only a matter of time on the other 2.
Get a good HVAC guy to come out and look at everything.

Good list.
Have a good savings account because it's not if, it's when, things will need to be fixed or replaced. Don't let a $800 maintenance expense end up on a credit card.

If you're into decorating or nice furniture, don't try to do it all in the first few weeks. You'll end up buying things you don't really like in order to fill the voids. Do it over time as you find pieces you really like and you'll be more satisfied in the end.

Replace your air filters.
Review your builders warranty and home maintenance guides (if they provide you one)
Register all appliances including your HVAC and hot water heater within your first couple days.
