I have 5 root balls like this scattered on my property. The diameter being 40-48” thick. They were knocked down back in September. They are too heavy to move with my tractor. Any ideas? I was contemplating trying to burn in place but It would need to be something intense to get hot enough for the rest of the wood to start burning.

I would try to put trash limbs on and under it to make a burn pile around it. It will take some time and many fires, but it will gradually burn away.

Break it down with a chainsaw as much as possible and make sure you knock as much dirt off the roots as possible.

Are you looking for a cheap option? How far apart are they? I’d think getting a dozer to push them together and then let them rot for a couple years before having a major bonfire would be best answer?

Had the same thing not long ago. 1 bag of charcoal in a good crevice and a fan. In a week I was able to move it with a tractor.
