My mother bought a new Kenmore frig from Sears Clearview on 6/23/18. In mid April the frig part stopped cooling, but the freezer worked fine. She called the repair department and they sent out a technician and he steam defrosted the frozen coils and it worked fine. About a week later same thing happened and he came out again and defrosted again and said he had to order parts to fix it permanently. Since then it freezes over about once a week and it has to be defrosted. The technician claims the parts are not availible to repair.

My mother called again last Wednesday and they said that he would come out Thursday and he was a no show. She called again Friday and Sears said he would be out today . Another no show.

Sears referred my mother to Sears Customer Solutions. They are the complaint department. But when you call them, you are put on hold. Today she called them after the no show and she was out on hold for 50 minutes. She finally hung up.

Does anyone know a way to get Sears/ Kenmore to respond and fix the frig?

When I lived in LA many years ago, there was a Governor's Office of Consumer Protection. Back then, a complaint to them seemed to work wonders. Don't know if it still exists or not, but there may be something similar.

Some states it's handled by the State Attorney General's Office. Never hurts to try there, it's not like the AG does much of anything anyway.

its all done with 3rd party vendors now so a lawsuit is your only remedy, it says right on the purchase agreement the store has no liability and all warranty is between you and the manufacturer and the store has nothing to do with it and no responsibility.

this is why its pointless to buy extended warranties since they dont and wont even honor the actual warranty.

next time you need to buy something, keep in mind that LG is better then most as far as standing behind and fixing issues with their products, but not by much, and you opinions on brand names based on appliances you grew up with means nothing, they are all made in china by the same companies now and companies just put their name plates on them
