How to get rid of chiggers?

Trying to figure out how to deal with the chiggers on about an acre of land that is pretty dense in pine trees. Trying to clean up the area a little bit but there is a good 6” layer of pine straw on top of the ground.
The only thing I have read is maybe using Talstar or another bifenthrin product and spray the whole area. I gotta try something because these things are a pain in the arse, just not sure if I will even reach them this way.
Any better suggestions?

Man red bugs/chiggers are the worst. Always wear pants. Wearing shorts only allows them access to your groin and ball area.
Yea I know from plenty of experiences.
With that being said use Permethrin Pro or bug be gon. Will probably be expensive for such a big area.

clean it up in the winter and you won’t get chiggers

Bug guy that handled Mom and Dad's place in Hot Springs Village uses weak bleach solution in a pump sprayer over the entire property/lawn. Works like a charm.
Chiggers/redbugs are a spider that love dead leaves. Leaf mulch in flower beds is a primes area for them (like Mom's azaleas planted around trees). Gravel areas are also big spots.
This is the time of year they are breeding so Clorox them now to stop the future generation then add it to calendar for next Mid-Late Spring.

There is just no way for me to clean this whole area and keep it up. I can remove some of the downed trees and make paths, but there will still be a constant thick layer of pine straw.

Can you burn it?
