How much more should a top cap add to the price of a wood fence? (pics inside)

I'm looking to get about 150' of wood fencing and I'm weight my options.
I was originally just going to get a regular 6' fence but I'm curious how much extra I should expect to get charged to get a top cap?

if that’s just a treated 2x6, about $1/LF plus install

The "plus install" number would be of interest to me. I'm going to get a couple of prices but I'd like to get an idea of what to expect.
From what I gather, a normal fence is around $16/LF installed?
edit: there's also an old fence that needs to be taken down.

a good rule of thumb is $20/LF

Damn - inflation, I guess? I paid $14/LF for my mom's fence around 6 years ago.

That's nothing to install yourself. You just need to make sure the top runner is even with the top of the fence so you can screw the cap to the 2x4. You could do it yourself in a couple of hours. 2x6 or 2x8 depending on how you want it to look.

I paid around $35 per ft installed for fence similar to that. All cedar except for posts.
Had 4 estimates all about the same price.

Trust me, I about fell over when I got the first quote. Told the guy he was nuts. Then the other 3 came in.

Take it down yourself? Chainsaw through runners on each side of every post. Then rock out, use atv, utv, tractor, or truck to pull out post. Clean slate for new build and a little bet less you have to spend.
Btw, I really like that fence. Will redo mine in the near future with something exactly like that.

I used AMKO Fence in Gonzales. The service was good. Zack Wright is the guy I dealt with to get the quote and set up the install. He was very thorough and came out to my house multiple times to make sure things were right. I’d use them again.

If you spray it with CedarShield, it will never warp and will remail waterproof for a very long time. Expensive but in the long run worth it.

I just had a fence installed and asked my contractor about the cap. He said it adds about $1.50/ft (pine).
His advice was to just build the fence normal then decide if I really want the cap. We waited and they did such a good job I decided against the cap.

How much did you pay for the fence, installed? (without the cap)
