That's probably only because you have one that is 20+ years old. The new ones are crap.

It’s not just bearings sound. The back plate on the unit needed replacing already. It’s has two separate leaks on the housing of it. It’s fails to prime too often and has cavitation issues (despite water levels and valve settings being fine). It’s about 10 years old and I inherited it when we moved here last year.

I look forward to not having to deal with it anymore.

Make sure it’s not your capacitor. Changed mine out today because motor wouldn’t start up. $10 part and working fine now.

Mine has been loud since March. I know because that’s when I bought a new motor. I have been putting off changing. I went outside finally to change yesterday because I had time. It was quiet and I thought it had not come on yet. I looked and the breaker flipped. It was dead the day I decided to change. New one works great.
