What are these patches taking over my centipede grass? Some sort of weed.
I know it’s tough to see, just thought I’d take a shot on here.
It’s top heavy. Means if I push it to the side I see all these thin roots underneath the green. Tried all kinds of plant apps, but can’t identify.

Try to take some closer pictures.

Could be doveweed or buttonweed?

Doveweed - Celsius post-emergent herbicide (make sure the spelling is correct when you look it up). It’s an annual weed - Specticle pre-emergent herbicide (expensive) can control it when applied in Spring. late April-early May. Doveweed

Thanks ya’ll!

Should I just let it go since we’re pushing Fall or can I take care of it now and maybe recover my lawn for a few months?

It will absolutely kill big patches if you let it go. Nip it asap

I agree - I’d be inclined to spray it. Consider using Specticle pre-emergent herbicide next year in late April, it’s expensive, the other pre-emergents are not effective on it. Doveweed can be a real pain without with control.
