half chain link and half wood fence: trashy or not?

I am trying to decide if I should go ahead and put a wood fence on the front of my property and replace the old chain link there while keeping the chainlink on the sides of my property. The main reason is that we have a chainlink fence that got damaged on one side of the house facing the street and if I were to repair that area, I would rather go with wood. The other issue we have is that the chain link bordering one of my neighbors would be a pain to install since we both have a lot of trees that creep around the area and would make it difficult to install a new fence.

How trashy is my idea?

What they did for privacy years ago was to insert wood slats in the chainlink gate.

Now they make them in plastic

I mean chain link is not allowed in our neighborhood but with a good privacy screen you can’t see the fence anyway. Just landscape it and then the fence type back there doesn’t matter.

When you go up north, it’s common to have a brick front of a house and plastic everywhere else. That concept isn’t trashy at all up there.

Nearly every house in my previous neighborhood had wood fence facing the road then around the sides until it got into the yard 20 feet or so, then it was black chain link on the back of everyone's property.

not sure if this is trolling or serious, but I was meaning that the fence facing the front yard would be wood, and I would keep the sides of my yard with the chainlink that we still have

it’s done all the time. There are advantages to galvanized steel fencing but it ain’t very pretty. Install wood fencing on the street facing elevation for looks, and fabric fencing on the sides and back for durability

no different from a commercial metal building that has an architectural front facing elevation and R panel on the sides and rear. The R panel will last the lifetime of the building but not very pretty; the front elevation will need maintenance but it looks better

Yeah, I just really wanted to know if it was a trashy look or not to do half and half and how it would affect resale value/curb appeal. Deep down I believed it wouldn't be an issue given the circumstance of what we have going on.
