Yep
Air cooled will die on you at worst time
You know kohler offers air cooled units as well right?
Its not until like 22 or 24kw size gensets that both kohler and generac will offer liquid or air cooled depending on what you want. Damn near every genset under 22kw will be aircooled no matter the brand.

Surprised so many people have had issues with Generac. My parents have had one for 10+ years, now at 2 houses and thing runs like a champ with zero issues. I went to their house during the freeze b/c I didn't have power for 4 days

I have posted several times in previous threads about how crappy Generacs have become. In my area people that have them from 4-5 years ago and longer have had pretty good luck with them. The ones put in last couple of years are junk.My neighbor had brand new one, only lasted 30 hours Hurricane Laura before it died.Another person in the community only got 15 minutes out of theirs and it bit the dust.Every time I posted I get bunch of replies about people that have had them number of years with no problems. That is exactly my point, for a long time they were reliable but for whatever reasons they aren’t anymore.
There are numerous negative reviews of Generac on pissed consumer and Consumer Affairs.com
Kohler has lots of bad reviews also but I don’t know anyone that has one.
Cummings are apparently the best but I checked with local dealer in Oct.2020 and he had 14 month waiting list.
I decided to go with Honda 7000 w invertor generators,I have 2 ordered with parallel kit ,dealer called last week and is supposed to have them in this week.
I’ll still have to deal with gasoline but at least I’ll have something reliable.
Interesting factoid- the guy in Grant Parish that is the go to guy for generator service has a pto generator he runs off his tractor for his house.

Why anyone would become a Generac customer after the debacle of Laura in LCH is beyond me.

My Kohler (22KW air cooled) ran like a champ for a week during the freeze. It saved my arse because my house is on piers and there's no question the pipes underneath would have frozen if my heaters hadn't been running. I know that's anecdotal but that's my personal experience.
What's crazy is I had minor flooding issues near the generator when it was first installed years ago and it was sitting in approximately a foot of water on several occasions. The flooding issue has since been addressed but I was sure the muddy water would affect the genset with dirt, rust, etc. Anyway, I let it dry for 10 days each time and it's run great for years since then.

You know their are kits available to convert Honda gasoline engines to either NG or propane. You loose power. I think about 33% with NG and 20ish% with propane. But it's an option. Change the capacitors in AC units to lower start up amps.

I don’t have natural gas but I’ll look into the propane convertor option. That would be easier than dealing with gasoline.
