Gas Fireplace inspection

I realize it’s 100 degrees but I think I may have a leak in gas Fireplace that needs to be looked at. Gas is shut off so not an immediate threat but certainly want to do something with it now before weather gets cold and then it’s a month long wait. Any recommendations in the Baton Rouge area?

Any competent plumber would probably be fine or go with Acoustical Specialties, if you want some one that sells and installs gas fireplaces.

As another poster said, call a plumber. They handle gas pipe issues.
Just don't make the same mistake I made many, many years ago as a first time homeowner. Thought I had a gas leak, so I called Entergy to come take a look. Yep, I had a gas leak, but Entergy isn't responsible for fixing it. What they will do is cut off your gas, take your gas meter and then make you get the problem fixed. After it's fixed, they have to come back out and reinspect to confirm it's fixed before they'll hook your gas meter back up. As you can imagine, this was not a 1 or 2 day turn around, so I was without gas (and thus taking cold showers) for a good bit of time. That was a tough lesson to learn.

If you believe you have a leak soap the pipe joints and valve bodies. Mix some dishwashing soap with water. Get a small paint brush and dib it on the joints/valve. If the joints or valves bubble then you found the leak.
