cost of installation? Market average seems to be between $6-12 per square foot.

It’s really going to depend on how much sidewalk you’re doing. In general, flatwork labor should be about $3.50-4/SF, plus cost of materials, so if you’re getting enough concrete, $6/SF should be in the right neighborhood. But right now, the concrete companies are putting pretty big surcharges on smaller lots.
Also, not sure where you are, but in the NOLA area, a lot of the concrete guys are out of control on pricing, so get multiple prices and if it’s something you really need to get done, prepare to over pay.

Post his info. I wouldn’t hate having another concrete guy to look at next time I’ve got some work.

I would personally prefer NOT to have a sidewalk, but if you want one have you considered approaching the neighbors about going in and getting a few houses done at once? Contractor might give a break. My did that with some neighbors when he wanted to get the ditches turned into culverts. They got a break on the culverts and the guy that did the work cut them a killer deal because it was a bunch of jobs all in one place, no moving the heavy equipment between jobs was a big deal for him, plus he put in some new driveways for cheap too while he was doing work.

Several years ago we bought a fixer-upper and the sidewalk was buckled and disintegrating. I called the city streets dept to check about who owns the sidewalk. Their answer was it's technically city and mine is on their repair list for sometime in the next few years. I mentioned there's only about 25 linear feet or so and I'd just do it myself. They got real snippy and said "you can, but when we do come out to repair it we'll tear out your work first and then charge you for the demo cost of what is city property". I said fine, put that in writing on city letterhead please so I have it for protection. They did.
A couple years later city works left a note on my door that I had 24 hrs to clear the sidewalk after a snowstorm or be fined. I'd cleared it once already but a snowplow re-buried it when running down the street. I sent their letter back with a copy of the previous letter and said "try it".
Point being - it may/may not be your sidewalk - check first.
Dude, what the frick is this supposed to be telling us?

I’m not one to shite on people, but I’m bumping this with a PSA not to use this guy. Nice guy, but his work is sub-standard.
