Got a crazy deal and purchased a 12x16 metal gambrel roof Action storage building. It already had wood flooring and electrical installed. Plan to use it as a small workshop and possible place to watch the ball game if the little ones are in bed.

The building is framed with what looks to be 20ga metal studs and beams (could be wrong on the gauge, tell me if I’m wrong). I was recently given about 500sf of Batt faced insulation which I’ve already began installing.

My question is what would be the best bet in terms of wall paneling with no wood framework whatsoever? Drywall? OSB? Or do I need something lighter? The heaviest thing I would hang would be a television fwiw. Open to you guys input.

Since it is so small I would consider getting the whole thing spray foamed and then they can paint the foam white. Framing will still be exposed and can be used for mounting or puting up plywood if you want.

Or you can just use 1/2" AC Pine plywood with one finished side. Prime and paint.

I assume you are planning on putting in A/C of some sort if you are insulating it?

This is less than half the price and only 6 pounds heavier

Unless someone plans on climate controlling an area 24/7 any drywall product should be avoided. Just because USG puts some waxy paper on it doesn't mean it stops absorbing moisture.

There are also some plastic panel solutions out there that eliminate the need for any type of finishing (Trusscore, etc.).

I assumed he would have some sort of climate control.

That would be an ideal scenario for the OP depending on cost.

Spray foam is prob a better option. Since it’s going to be a shop i would t use drywall. I would just screw pegboard directly to the studs.
