Extending a flag pole

OK so I have three flags flying in by back yard drilled into the Fascia of the house. The current flags are 6' tall and 1" in diameter. I would like to extend the flags to be a total of 7'6" or 8' in length. Does anyone have a suggestion. My thought is to buy either 1" PVC pipe and add a coupling to the end but i'm not sure if that would be strong enough under windy conditions. I am not familiar if this same process could be done with metal piping. Thoughts.

Yea you could do it with metal conduit. HD/Lowe’s sell various lengths, and you can get a handheld pipecutter to make it the precise length you need. They have pre-threaded conduit as well in case you need some type of coupling.

Are you against actual flag poles in the ground?

Was actually easier than i thought. Instead of actually extending the poles i used 45 degree conduit which accomplished the same thing of raising the height of the flags. My only concern now is will the steeper angle cause issues with the brackets being in the fascia.
