My home is 90% brick. The other 10% is vinyl soffit. It’s about 10 years old and after being pressure washed has faded some. Rather than replace it, anyone ever painted it?

Can you elaborate on how it came out, how long it lasted? Chip or crack?

I recommend looking at Sherwin Williams paint (because I work there lol). You can get most of their paints in a vinyl safe formula although you are limited in color choices with vinyl safe formulas. Resilience and Duration are both excellent choices for moisture and mildew resistance and satin finish is easier to keep clean.

I'm not one to swoon over colors so my wife picked the colors and I painted. Mind you don't go with cheap paint

Completely changes curb appeal of the home

It's been a year since the paint was applied.
Have had several people ask when did we switch to hardi plank

Don't have enough time yet to answer the chip or crack question.

Had read somewhere that one couldn't paint it a dark color or the vinyl siding would warp out of shape.

I have heard this too. I just bought an older house with white vinyl siding on the sides of the house. I am also looking into painting it a royal blue to match the front, but now concerned its too dark because of this.

100% true. Darker colors absorb heat which can make the siding flex and warp. Some paint companies have formulas to match vinyl siding colors (yellows, grays, blues, clay, etc).

We shall see if our sherwin williams blue mystery color makes the vinyl warp. Do have one summer on the paint and no warping.
