Electric Motor in Stovetop Hood Vent Issues

It sounds like the electric motor on the vent fan is going bad. It sounds like something is grinding in the motor when we turn it on.
Is replacing a hood vent fan an easy DIY or better to call a professional?
My DIY skills are slightly above average.

I'm going to assume it depends on the brand, but my vent fan is fairly generic we ordered the cabinet and housing from the cabinet company and then installed a fan and light piece into it as best as I can remember.
But the actual fans are just fairly basic blower types.
It may just need cleaned. Mine gets pretty greasy. I could see something being sucked up in there or just a blockage of dust and grease causing an issue.

Super easy to do. Look up your model on Youtube and you'll find a video from one of the big parts sellers.

My range hood is 35 years old and is making a worn bearing type grinding sound. The touch pad on the front no longer controls the lighting. It’s past its prime. I’ve fixed a lot of stuff here over the years but this unit doesn’t lend itself to proper fix. I finally did find one the same size so I’m opting for a new one.

Well, I would investigate how hard it is to remove the motor before I ordered a bunch of parts. If you can access and drop the motor without taking all of the hood down, that wound be good.
