Water pump installed on land and a lot of PVC. A screen of sorts on the suction is advisable.

Can do a submersible pump, but no need to.

Made mine for less than $200. bought diffuser plates off eBay and same aerator pump u use for septic tank. Piped up diffusers with PVC and used cinderblocks to weight down. Bought the sinking air hose off eBay as well to get to edge of pond then ran pvc to pump.

Bought a sump pump from HF. Took a 5 gallon bucket, cut a bunch of the sides and bottom out. Put some hardware wire around the side and bottom . Used nuts and bolts. Then mounted the pump with some wire. Ran a piece of 1 1/2" Pvc on the discharge about 5' long with a 45 about half way. Capped the end and drilled a bunch of holes 1/4". Also drilled some holes in the pipe itself. Depends on what size pump you get on how many holes are needed.

Then mounted it hanging off my dock, keeping it off the bottom. It shoots the water into the air a good 15' out to the center of the pond.

oh, cost was under $75.

How big and how deep? Are you sure you even need aeration?
