Going to put up a redneck above ground Intex XTR pool for the summer on one of our properties. Backyard has ruts and holes from cypress knees which we have dug up. These low spots already fill up with water when it rains and the property is a little lower than all of the neighboring properties. Adding sand or soil will most likely lead to uneven settling so I have to dig up the St. Aug grass and dig down to the law spots, correct? What is the easiest way to do this? Rent a mini skid steer or rototiller? I'm also worried about that area filling with water when it rains. This is ultimately all temporary until another property is renovated and we get a real pool but we want to get it right. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Bring in some clean sand to spread, fill, and level.

No, a $60,000 in-ground pool for a property that we plan on renting after the other house is renovated is a waste but thanks for your input.

You mentioned that your property is a little low, so be mindful of where and how well the water sheds around your property when adding a bunch of dirt or water.

Drain away from your foundation. You say you will use it as a rental so avoid as many possible future issues as you can.

Build up around your foundation if you need it to get a base level and keep water going away from that point.

Keep in mind that replacing a couple grand of sod and doing proper grading is cheaper than dealing with negative drainage causing water damage that involves insurance.

Send water to the property line & swales so it leaves the house.

You already have an uneven/low yard because water collects.
Cut & fill as needed to get water away from the house and pool.

Unless you completely removed the roots & repacked the ground that had roots, you will continue to have settling/drainage issue.

Get a few estimates from qualified landscape designers, landscape architects, &/or civil engineers.
